A very warm welcome to the Key Stage One page. Key Stage One consists of both Year One and Year Two. Our Key Stage is divided into three classes; Starlight, Moonlight and Rainbow. In the mornings we focus on Phonics, English and Maths to develop our skills in these core subjects. Our learning is often driven by a topic or a book to inspire us in our lessons. This term we will be looking at the book The Snow Dragon by Vivian French. In Maths, our Year 1 children will be developing their understanding of addition and subtraction, place value and measurement, whilst our Year 2 children will begin to work on multiplication, division and fractions followed by some work on shape and measurement.
During the afternoon our history and geography will be delivered through our topic ‘Cold Climates’. The following subjects are also taught during afternoon sessions: science, art, technology, computing, music, RE and PE.
We have a strong PSHE emphasis where we use lots of different opportunities to learn about ourselves, our friends, our world and how to stay safe. We use a restorative approach throughout the school to help children develop their social and emotional skills and to promote our Red Rose Values:
Respect Excellence Determination Responsibility Opportunity Support for Others Equality
Our team are always ready to help should you have any questions or concerns.
